The Bride Isn't Ready

Do you believe that God speaks today? Well, of course He does. The Bible is the primary way that God communicates with us. However, the Holy Spirit that dwells in us speaks as well. This may be through a quiet still voice, a soothing song, or a dream or vision in the stillness of the night.

With that in mind, I always try to examine my dreams in regards to what God may be saying to me and/or the Church (Body of Christ) at large. Recently I had a dream about a wedding. I was getting ready for one. I believe most of the preparations had been made, but the Bride's hair hadn't been straightened out. In addition, there were some guests who had gotten a late invitation to come to the wedding. "Then the angel told me to write, "Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb." (Revelation 19:9) . That wasn't in the dream, that's in the Bible.

The Bible says, "Let us be glad and rejoice and give honor to him. For the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife has made herself ready." Now most of us understand the Bride to be the Church. The Bridegroom is Christ.

The dream invoked feelings of joy. Even though the Bride wasn't ready, it was going to be a joyous and wonderful occasion. Symbolically hair represents power or strength such as the hair of Samson. The bible also says the glory of a woman is her hair. Perhaps there are some things that need to be straightened out in our doctrine, in our thinking, in our love for others or in the strength of our faith. I don't claim to be a Daniel or a Joseph in regards to the interpretation of dreams - that belongs to God. I just believe God was trying to tell us something.

The late guests invited to the wedding in the dream definitely tells me that evangelism should continue long and strong as we see the prophecy of the bible continue to be revealed. There's someone waiting to hear you share your faith. It may be your story, your testimony about the goodness of God, about the love of Jesus, about the grace and mercy of our LORD, or about what Jesus did on the cross for them that compels them to give their life to Christ.

The Bride isn't ready yet, but she's getting there. Keep your lamps burning and the oil flowing.
