A Royal Wedding

The date has been set. There's going to be a royal wedding. May 19, 2018 Prince Harry of England will marry. Preparations are being made behind closed doors in private sessions. Locations are being determined, parties are being planned, protocols are being discussed, and attire is being designed.

There's an excitement in the air for those who love and embrace this royal couple. Many look forward to receiving an invitation to their marriage supper where 300 - 800 of their closet friends will dine with them. News reporters all around the world are waiting to report on this great marriage day and feast for a new royal couple is arising.

Did you know that another royal wedding is being planned? This one is not being discussed so much in the press or the earthly realm. However, in the heavenly realm, there is a great deal of anticipation for this wedding. It is the marriage of Jesus to His Bride - the Church. And, with it comes the marriage supper of the Lamb. In Revelation 19:7 it says, "Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him; for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife has made herself ready."

While we can't mark a date on our calendar for this great occasion, we have been promised that it will surely come. We, as the Bride of Christ, have simply been told to make ourselves ready. That means we need to prepare.

The fine, clean white linen we will be arrayed in will be our righteousness. (Rev. 19:8) And as you know, that righteousness comes from Christ. We are to prepare by reading His Word which gives us even greater intimacy with our Bridegroom. Oh yes, you see His word is a "lamp for our feet, a light on our path." (Psalm 119:105) Another important part of our preparation is to become "holy as Christ is holy." (Leviticus 20:26) We do this by yielding to the santification process of the Holy Spirit. There is still some baggage we need to get rid of in order to achieve this state. The luggage we will take on this journey will not take up much space for it is simply the fruit of the Spirit which is "love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. (Galatians 5:22)

Yet, there is still more to do to prepare for this great day. We must continue to spread the Gospel of Jesus to all the nations. (Mark 16:15) Don't take Jesus' invitation for granted unless you are prepared for it to be taken away. (Luke 14:23-24) Jesus has gone to great lengths to fill the banquet hall. Finally, we must continue to serve in our churches and communities. (Romans 12:11) We must not run out of oil as we await for the great wedding banquet. (Matthew 25:10) We want our name on the wedding place cards to be embossed with gold, the seal clearly visible. Yes, we want a seat at the table.

Have you gotten excited yet about THIS royal wedding? The Bible declares, "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light." (1 Peter 2:9) God is giving you a chance to prepare. "Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, and come along!" (Song of Solomon 2:13)
